📚Book Review – Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Ownes📚

Book # 47 – Rating: 4.5 ⭐️

Despite the massive hype this book had last year, I wasn’t sure about it. I don’t know why, but I just wasn’t looking forward to reading it. Finally last month, I picked it up as it was the only book in my TBR with a WH question in the title (Wheel of Booksibilities prompt) and I have to say…. oh boy it took me a long while to get into it but it was sooo worth it!

After having read it, I must admit it is a beautifully written book. It covers many difficult topics like racism, poverty, alcoholism, domestic violence, abandonment, solitude, among many more, but it also delves into perseverance, ingenuity, resourcefulness, tenacity, solidarity and love.
There are so many lessons packed in this story that by the end, I felt like I was part of it, I knew Kya and I just wanted her to be finally happy.

The New York Times summaries it perfectly: ‘Painfully beautiful… At once a murder mystery, a coming-of-age narrative and a celebration of nature’

If you are having a hard time getting into the story…. keep going because it is 100% worth it. .

If you feel like gifting me a book, here is my wishing list. Kindle Books are more than welcome!
