Things I enjoyed in September!

September, where have you gone? I don’t know what’s happening this year but I feel like at the end of every month I’m wondering where the time has gone, and how crazy it is that the month is over. When I looked at my ‘September Favourite’ page of my bullet journal, I thought it was quite empty, with only a few series/movies, one book (not finished yet) and a couple of random things. Which goes to show how fast time is passing by these days.

These are the things I enjoyed in September and could also provide happiness/entertaining to you.

The Big Sick – Movie

OMG, what a movie! This one is a comedy with a bit of drama in the middle that goes around a Pakistani comedian man (Kumail Nanjiani) who falls in love with a white woman despite knowing that his family is actively looking for a suitable Pakistani girl for him to marry. A rare situation forces him to communicate and establish a relationship with the white girl’s parents which sets the perfect scenario for hilarious interactions and events.

The Big Sick is centred around a culture far from me, where arranged marriages are just part of the normal life and this movie was like a little window to that world, the culture, the traditions and the family dynamics. But to be honest, the best part was the end. OMG.. so unexpected.. you have to wait for the credits to understand what I’m saying. Have you seen it? Did you like it? Let me know in the comments.

Atypical – Netflix Serie

Well, similar to The Big Sick, this series, which I binged watched in two days, took me to another world. A world where Autism is at its heart where you get to understand a little bit more how living with or close to this condition really is.

This comedy, that will make you cry a couple of times during the first season, follows Sam, a teenager with autism and the effects of his condition not only on his family but also at school, romance, his therapist and friends.

Alonso Lerone – YouTube Channel

Want to laugh? Want to feel like if you laugh one more time a little bit of wee will escape your body? well, this is the channel for you.

I didn’t know about Alonso’s channel until I ‘met’ him at VidCon Australia. When I got home I decided to check him out and OMG, I was laughing and watching his videos for more than 2 hours!  Great form of procrastination!

Modern Romance – Book by Aziz Ansari

Writing by the famous Aziz Ansari, actor and comedian. This book takes you on a journey to discover the dynamics of romance in modern days while also comparing it to what our parents and grandparents used to do when looking for the perfect one.

Modern Romance

If you like surveys, statistics, better said: if you are kind of a nerd AND you like comedy, then this is THE book for you! Full of numbers, bar, line and pie charts, Aziz goes around the world, comparing how people from different cultures date and how it relates to his personal life. I wish they had gone to Colombia, there are interesting dynamics there.

It’s a good book not only for a laugh but also for us the ‘taken’ ones to rejoice and be happy we do not have to be dating in this crazy technology-bound era.

VidCon Australia – Event

Almost a month ago, I went to the first VidCon event held in Australia and it was A W E S O M E!

VidCon Welcome

Lots of people talking to cameras, from all ages, different type of creators, all of us eager to learn more and be better at creating content.

I remember coming back home sooo inspired to continue my youtube journey, I was so excited and happy of being able to spend my weekend in such a nice environment. VidCon not only allowed me to be in the same room as one of my favourite creators, but also gave me the opportunity to meet talented people.

I had so much fun playing games like Just Dance, racing on inflatable castles and obstacles races that for a couple of hours, I felt like a little happy kid around little actual kids! You can watch more of this experience here (just click the image)
